Symptom Checks

Perform the following:

• If vehicle is equipped with electric cooling fan, Start engine. Turn A/C on (if equipped). Cooling fan should be on.
• Check ignition timing. See DIAGNOSTIC SUB-ROUTINES.
• Check temperature gauge and sending unit.
• Check for binding/dragging brakes.
• Check transmission for overheating.
• Check for excessive vehicle load.
• Check for internal cylinder block and cylinder head leaks.
