Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Disconnect sensor electrical connector.

3. Remove sensor mounting screws and remove crankshaft position sensor.

INSTALLATION

1. Position crankshaft position sensor on engine.

2. Install two sensor attaching screws and tighten screws to 9-12 Nm (80-106 in lb).

3. Route sensor wiring harness and connect electrical connector.

4. Connect negative battery cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
