Description & Operation
The optional remote keyless entry system uses a remote transmitter to lock or unlock both doors by pressing the LOCK or UNLOCK button. By pressing the PANIC button on the transmitter, a panic alarm system may also be activated. When panic alarm is activated, the hazard lights and horn intermittently flash and sound for 3 minutes. To deactivate the panic alarm system, press the panic button a second time. The system may also be deactivated by turning the ignition switch to the ON or START position.
If vehicle is equipped with the optional anti-theft system, the transmitter arms and disarms the anti-theft system with the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons. The transmitter is effective within 33 feet of the vehicle. The transmitter will not operate the lock system when the ignition switch is in the ON or ACC position. If vehicle is equipped with illuminated entry system, transmitter will also activate the lights for vehicle entry.
The remote keyless entry system consists of a remote transmitter, control module (located in right rear quarter panel) and an antenna located within the rear light wiring harness, and exiting the harness below the rear quarter window.
