Engine Controls - Tests W/O Codes - EEC 2.5L: Symptoms: Surges
- Check for vacuum leaks.
- Check ignition system. See BASIC TESTING - 4-CYL article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- Check air intake system. Ensure by-pass air control system operates properly and valve is clean.
- Check fuel delivery. Refer to the appropriate I - SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - EEC (2.5L) article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- Perform QUICK TEST. See TESTS W/CODES - EEC 2.5L article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- Check EGR system. See I - SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - EEC (2.5L) article and TESTS W/CODES - EEC 2.5L article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- Check air intake system. Also, ensure throttle plate and linkages operate properly.
- Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) system. Refer to the I - SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - EEC (2.5L) article and TESTS W/CODES - EEC 2.5L article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
