Test B: One Power Window Inoperative
- If right door window is inoperative, go to step 6 . If right door window operates, go to next step.
- Remove driver's door window switch. Leave switch connected to harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using test light, probe driver's door switch harness connector wire color and switch position indicated in the LEFT WINDOW SWITCH FUNCTION TEST
table. If test light illuminates on all indicated wires in corresponding switch position, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate on all indicated wires in corresponding switch position, replace driver's door window switch. Restore system to original configuration and retest.LEFT WINDOW SWITCH FUNCTION TEST
Switch Position Wire Color Left Front Window UP White/Black Left Front Window DOWN Yellow Right Front Window UP White/Yellow Right Front Window DOWN Tan/Light Blue Rear Window UP Purple/Light Green Rear Window DOWN Purple/Light Blue - Gain access to inoperative window motor and disconnect harness connector. See WINDOW MOTOR
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using test light, probe suspect window motor harness connector using wire color and switch position indicated in the WINDOW MOTOR CIRCUIT TEST
table. If test light illuminates on all indicated wires in corresponding switch position, go to step 5
. If test light does not illuminate on all indicated wires in corresponding switch position, go to next step.WINDOW MOTOR CIRCUIT TEST
Switch Position Wire Color Left Front Window UP White/Black Left Front Window DOWN Yellow Right Front Window UP Red/Yellow Right Front Window DOWN Yellow/Red Rear Window UP Purple/Light Green Rear Window DOWN Purple/Light Blue - Disconnect left door window switch. Using ohmmeter, check resistance of suspect circuit between suspect window switch harness connector and left door window switch harness connector. SeeWIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is not 5 ohms or less, repair open in suspect circuit. Restore system to original configuration and retest.
- Access and disconnect window motor harness connector. Using jumper wire, connect one end to battery positive, connect other end to Pin 1 of window motor connector. Using a second jumper wire, connect one end to a known good ground. Momentarily connect other end of jumper wire to Pin 2 of window motor connector. Window motor should operate. Reverse jumper wires and repeat test. Window motor should operate in opposite direction. If window motor does not operate as described, replace window motor. Restore system to original configuration and retest. If window motor operates as described, test is complete. Restore system to original configuration and retest.
- Remove right door window switch. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using test light, check for voltage at right door window switch harness connector White/Yellow wire with driver's door right window switch in DOWN position. Check for voltage at right door window switch harness connector Tan/Light Blue wire with driver's door right window switch in UP position. Test light should illuminate in both tests. If test light illuminated in both tests, go to next step. If test light did not illuminate in both tests, repair open in circuit between driver's door right window switch and right door window switch harness connector. Restore system to original configuration and retest.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using voltmeter, check for voltage at right door window switch harness connector Light Blue/Black wire. Battery voltage should exist. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Light Blue/Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Restore system to original configuration and retest.
- Connect test lamp to good ground. Connect other test lamp lead to Yellow/Red wire. Actuate right hand window regulator control switch to DOWN position. Move the test lamp lead from Yellow/Red wire to Red/Yellow wire. Actuate right hand window regulator control switch to UP position. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If test light illuminates in both tests, go to next step. If test light did not illuminate in both tests, replace right door window switch. Restore system to original configuration and retest.
- Access and disconnect right hand power window motor. Using a jumper wire, apply battery voltage to terminal 1 of power window motor. With another jumper wire, momentarily apply a good ground to terminal No. 2 of power window motor. Does power window motor operate. If no, replace power window motor and retest. If yes, service open in Yellow/Red or Red/Yellow wire and retest.
