Pinpoint Test E - System Identification Fault

  1. Identify Vehicle System

If vehicle is equipped with Traction Control System (TCS), go to step 4). If vehicle is not equipped with TCS, go to next step.
  2. Check Circuit No. 91

Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Connect Breakout Box (007-00033) and Adapter (007-00115). Measure resistance between test pins No. 5 and 14. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Blue wire between ground and ABS control module.
  3. Clear Codes

Clear all codes. Turn ignition on and retrieve codes again. If Code C1414 is present, replace HCU. If Code C1414 is not present, fault was intermittent. No further testing is required at this time.
  4. Check For Open Circuit

Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Connect Breakout Box (007-00033) and Adapter (007-00115). Measure resistance between ground and test pins No. 14 and 25. If both readings are more than 10,000 ohms, replace HCU. If either reading is 10,000 ohms or less, repair short to ground at terminal No. 14 of ABS control module. Reconnect all components and clear codes. Turn ignition on and retrieve codes again. If Code C1414 is present, replace HCU.
