Using New Generation Star (NGS) Tester: Interface

Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
Select the appropriate program card for the vehicle.
With NGS control unit facing away from you, insert the program card into the slot on the back. If you insert the card incorrectly, NGS will not work.
Plug the power cable into the vehicle's cigar lighter or into the battery hookup adapter if using the alternative hookup. NGS will perform an initialization, which checks NGS memory and verifies that the Vehicle Interface Module (VIM) matches the program card software.
