No Communication With Drivers Seat Module

  1. Check Power Supply To Driver Seat Module

Disconnect 22-pin driver seat module connector. Using a voltmeter, measure for voltage at driver seat module connector pin No. 12 circuit 296 (White/Purple) on Town Car, or Circuit 785 (Black/Light Green) on Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Is positive battery voltage present? If yes, go to step  4 . If no, go to next step.
  2. NOTE: The fuse panel is located in the instrument panel to the left of the steering column. To expose fuse panel, remove lower steering column finish panel.

  3. Check circuit 296 (Town Car) Or Circuit 785 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis) For Short To Ground
Remove Fuse 8 (15A) from fuse junction panel. Using an ohmmeter connected to ground, measure resistance at driver seat module connector pin No. 12, circuit 296 (White/Purple) on Town Car, or circuit 785 (Black/Light Green) on Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis. Is resistance less than 10,000 ohms? If yes, service circuit 296 (White/Purple) on Town Car or circuit 785 (Black/Light Green) on Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis for short to ground. Replace Fuse 8 (15A). Restore vehicle. Retest system. If no, go to next step.
  4. Check Fuse No. 8 (15A)

Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between terminals of Fuse 8 (15A). Is resistance 5 ohms or less? If yes, service circuit 296 (White/Purple) on Town Car, or circuit 785 (Black/Light Green) on Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis for open. Restore vehicle. Retest system. If no, replace Fuse 8 (15A). Restore vehicle. Retest system.
  5. Check Circuit 676 (Town Car) Or Circuit 57 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis) For Open

Using an ohmmeter connected to ground, measure resistance at driver seat module connector pin No. 11, circuit 676 (Pink/Orange) on Town Car, or circuit 57 (Black) on Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis. Is resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, there is a problem with network communication. If no, service circuit 676 (Pink/Orange) on Town Car, or circuit 57 (Black) on Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis for open. Restore vehicle. Retest system.
