Pinpoint Test K - Trunk Does Not Unlock

  1. Press trunk lid switch, located in glove box. If trunk does not open, go to next step. If trunk opens, go to step 11).
  2. Connect and operate NGS tester, following manufacturer's instructions. Command DECKLID RELEASE. If trunk does not open, go to next step. If trunk opens, go to step 7).
  3. Command DECKLID RELEASE. Listen for sound from trunk area. If no sound occurs, go to next step. If sound occurs, inspect for sticking trunk lid release mechanism or other mechanical problem. Repair as necessary.
  4. Backprobe DDM 18-pin connector pins No. 6 and 7 with voltmeter while pressing trunk lid switch. If battery voltage appears momentarily, go to next step. If response is not as described, temporarily substitute known good DDM, then retest system.
  5. Test for voltage at Pink/Yellow wire at trunk release solenoid while pressing trunk lid switch. If battery voltage appears momentarily, go to next step. If response is not as described, repair open or shorted Pink/Yellow wire between DDM 18-pin connector pins No. 6 and 7 trunk release solenoid.
  6. Inspect Black wire at trunk release solenoid for continuity to ground. If continuity exists, replace trunk release solenoid. If continuity does not exist, repair Black wire.
  7. Read PID-DECKLID. Press trunk lid switch. Again read PID-DECKLID. If display does not change when switch is pressed, go to next step. If display changes when switch is pressed, temporarily substitute known good DDM, then retest system.
  8. With trunk lid switch released, read PID-DECKLID. If NGS tester does not indicate switch is active, go to next step. If NGS tester indicates switch is active, inspect White/Pink wire between 18-pin DDM connector pin No. 13 for short to ground. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace trunk lid switch.
  9. Inspect White/Pink wire for open between 18-pin DDM connector pin No. 13 and trunk lid switch. If wire is okay, go to next step. Repair wire as necessary.
  10. Inspect Black wire at trunk lid switch for continuity to ground. If continuity does not exist, repair Black wire, then go to next step. If continuity exists, replace trunk lid switch.
  11. Press trunk lid switch twice within 5 seconds. If trunk does not open, replace batteries in transmitter, then retest system. If trunk still does not open, go to next step. If trunk opens, system is okay.
  12. Connect and operate NGS tester, following manufacturer's instructions. Command DECKLID RELEASE. If trunk opens, go to next step. If trunk does not open, go to back to step 3).
  13. Press trunk lid switch. Read PID-RKE LAST DATA TRANSMITTED. If DECKLID RELEASE was the last keypress, temporarily substitute known good DDM, then retest system. If NGS tester displays other than DECKLID RELEASE as last keypress, inspect all associated wiring for short or open circuit. Repair as necessary.
