PC - Testing Notes

NOTE
You should enter this Pinpoint Test only when checking computed timing, or you have been directed here from Diagnostic Routines.

REMEMBER
To prevent the replacement of good components, be aware that the following non-Electronic Engine Controls (EEC) areas may be at fault:

- Base engine

- Ignition Control Module (ICM)

- Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor

This Pinpoint Test is intended to diagnose only the following:

- Harness Circuit: Spark Output (SPOUT)

- Base Timing

- Powertrain Control Module (PCM) (12A650)

Description
The SPOUT is a digital signal generated by the PCM which supplies spark timing information to the ICM. Normally there will be one and only one SPOUT pulse for each Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) pulse.
