Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable and battery to starter relay cable.
2. Remove battery.
3. Disconnect electrical connector at Ignition Control Module (ICM).






4. Remove module mounting bolt and remove ICM.

INSTALLATION
1. Install ICM and attaching bolt. Tighten bolt to 3-4 Nm (27-35 in lb).
2. Connect electrical connector to ICM.
3. Install battery, negative battery cable, and battery to starter relay cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
