Pinpoint Test E - Alarm Indicator Does Not Work

NOTE: In all of the following tests, ignition key should always be in OFF position unless otherwise specified in a specific test.
  1. Remove instrument panel cluster. Remove anti-theft indicator bulb from cluster. Check for continuity between bulb terminals. If continuity exists, go to next step. If no continuity exists, replace bulb.
  2. Disconnect 16-pin instrument panel cluster connector. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage of Blue/Red wire at connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Blue/Red wire.
  3. Disconnect 16-pin instrument panel connector and 20-pin CPU connector. Measure resistance of Light Green wire between the two connectors. Measure resistance of Light Green wire between 20-pin connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms between the connectors, and more than 10,000 ohms between connector and ground, go to next step. If Light Green wire is open or shorted to ground repair as necessary.
  4. Reconnect 16-pin instrument panel cluster connector and disconnect 20-pin CPU connector. Install anti-theft indicator bulb. Ground Light Green wire at 20-pin CPU connector. If bulb lights, replace the CPU. If bulb does not light, replace instrument cluster printed circuit board.
