Pinpoint Test B - Doors Do Not Lock Or Unlock With Remote Transmitter

  1. Turn ignition off. Unplug Black REM connector and power door lock relay connector, located at top of right side kick panel. Measure resistance of Green/Black wire between REM connector and relay connector. See Figure and Fig 1. Measure resistance of Green/Black wire between REM connector and ground. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms between connectors, and more than 10,000 ohms between each wire and ground. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair Green/Black wire(s).

  2. Turn ignition off. Connect wiring to REM. Leave power door lock relay disconnected. Press LOCK button on remote transmitter. Measure voltage at Green/Black wire at relay connector when LOCK button is pressed. Measure voltage at Green/Black wire when UNLOCK button is pressed. When LOCK or UNLOCK button is pressed, voltage should rise to 10 volts and then return to one volt. If voltage is as specified, transmitter and processor are okay. Refer to TROUBLE SHOOTING chart, if necessary. If voltages are not as specified, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect and reconnect vehicle battery to reset system. Program transmitter. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER  under PROGRAMMING. Repeat step 2). If voltage now changes from 10 volts to one volt, replace transmitter. If voltage does not change, temporarily substitute known good REM, then retest system.
