Brake Booster-To-Master Cylinder Push Rod

NOTE: Push rod does not normally need adjustment unless master cylinder has been replaced.
  1. Remove master cylinder. Loosen set screw on Master Cylinder Gauge (T92C-2500-A). Attach master cylinder gauge to brake booster. Tighten mounting nuts to 8-12 ft. lbs. (10-16 N.m).
  2. Start engine and let idle for approximately 15 seconds. Push lightly on end of gauge rod, until gauge rod just contacts booster push rod. Tighten set screw. Turn engine off and remove gauge from booster.
  3. Using depth gauge, measure and record height of gauge rod. Loosen set screw and set gauge on master cylinder. Push lightly on gauge rod, until end of gauge rod just bottoms in master cylinder piston. Tighten set screw.
  4. Using depth gauge, measure and record height of gauge rod. Determine difference between measurements. Adjust booster push rod to obtain zero clearance. Repeat procedure to ensure accuracy. Install master cylinder and bleed brakes. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  .
