Pinpoint Test H - Hydraulic System
- Hydraulic System Integrity (HSI) Check
Visually inspect all wiring, connectors, brake lines and components for wear, damage, overheating and looseness. If faults are found, repair as necessary. If no faults are found, go to next step.NOTE: The following step requires an assistant. Pressure reduction occurs within 2 seconds. - Hydraulic Pressure Check
Raise and support vehicle. Release parking brake. Ensure ignition is off. Place transaxle shifter in Neutral. Ensure brake drag does not exist when wheels are turned by hand. Access Data Link Connector (DLC) located in engine compartment, near battery. Using jumper wire, connect terminal "M" (TBS) and terminal "E" (GND) at DLC connector. See Figure . Depress brake pedal. Have assistant verify all wheels will not rotate. With brake pedal still depressed, turn ignition on. Have assistant verify that hydraulic pressure is momentarily released. Each wheel should rotate for about .5 second. Brakes should then hold for about 1.5 seconds, then repeat release cycle. If directed to this test from step 4) in QUICK TEST, ABS is functioning properly. If directed to this test from step 8) in PINPOINT TEST A and pressure reduction functions properly, fault is intermittent. Go to step 8) of QUICK TEST . If directed to this test from step 3) in PINPOINT TEST C and pressure reduction functions properly, go to PINPOINT TEST G . If pressure reduction does not function properly, inspect wiring and brake lines. If no faults are found, replace hydraulic actuator assembly.
