Coolant Temperature Sending Unit Test

  1. Let engine cool. Unplug coolant temperature sending unit connector. On 2.0L, sending unit is located at top left of engine. On 2.5L, sending unit located at top right of engine.
  2. Measure resistance between sending unit terminal and ground. Resistance should be 1150 ohms at 68°F (20°C).
  3. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. Resistance should gradually decrease as engine warms. If resistance is as specified, return to appropriate PINPOINT TEST. Replace sending unit if measurements are not as specified.
