Pinpoint Test A - Both Mirrors Inoperative

  1. Fuse Check  - Check RADIO (15-amp) fuse, located in fuse junction panel. If fuse is good, go to step 6). If fuse is blown, go to next step.
  2. System Check  - Replace blown fuse. Turn ignition on. Observe fuse. If fuse does not blow, go to step 6). If fuse blows, go to next step.
  3. Short To Ground Check  - Turn ignition off. Unplug 16-pin interior fuse junction panel connector. Unplug outside rear view mirror switch connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between Blue/White wire at junction panel connector and ground. If resistance less than 10,000 ohms, repair short in Blue/White wire. If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms, reconnect fuse junction panel connector and continue go to next step.
  4. Short To Ground Check  - Turn ignition off. Unplug mirror switch connector. Unplug outside mirror motor connectors. Measure resistance of all wires (except Black and Blue/White wires) between mirror motor connectors and ground. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair wire(s) for short to ground. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  5. Power Supply To Mirror Switch Check  - Ensure ignition is off. Unplug mirror switch connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage in Blue/White wire at mirror switch connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Blue/White wire between fuse junction panel and mirror switch connector. If voltage is 10 volts or greater, go to next step.
  6. Mirror Switch Ground Check  - Turn ignition off. Unplug mirror switch connector. Measure resistance between Black wire at connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace outside rear view mirror switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Black wire.
  7. Mirror Switch Ground Check  - Turn ignition off. Remove ROOM fuse (15-amp). Unplug mirror switch connector. Measure resistance between Black wire at connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace ROOM fuse and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Black wire.
  8. Mirror Switch Test  - Perform mirror switch test. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH TEST. If switch is faulty, replace power mirror switch and retest system. If switch is good, go to next step.
  9. Wire Continuity Check  - Unplug mirror switch connector. Unplug inoperative mirror motor connector. Measure resistance of indicated wires between mirror switch connector and inoperative mirror motor connector. See OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR CIRCUIT TEST table. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace outside rear view mirror assembly. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open wire(s).
