Transmission Range Indicator
NOTE:
Two types of transmission control selector indicators are used. A "flag" type is used with the analog instrument cluster and a pointer type is used with the electronic instrument cluster. Except as noted, adjustment for the two types is similar.
- Rotate gearshift lever clockwise until it bottoms out in first gear.
- Rotate gearshift lever counterclockwise two detents (overdrive position).
- Hang a three pound weight on the gearshift lever.
- For pointer type, center pointer in the middle of (D) by rotating the thumbwheel located on right-hand side of steering column. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
- For "flag" type indicator, adjust the flag in the overdrive position by rotating the thumb wheel until no red is visible in the calibration window. See Fig 3 and Fig 2 . The flag must fully cover the overdrive symbol after adjustment.
- Remove three-pound weight from shift control selector lever gearshift lever.
- Road test vehicle making sure pointer is positioned as shown when vehicle is operating in indicated range.
