Drive Cycle Mode 3
- 1) Ensure Modes 1 and 2 have been successfully completed. Turn ignition off. Connect NGS scan tool to OBD-II DLC. Enter PID/DATA MONITOR menu selection. Access VSS PID.
- 2) Ensure all accessories are off. Start engine and start to time Drive Cycle Mode 3 using stop watch. Drive vehicle at any legal speed for 5 minutes, no special pattern is necessary. See Fig 1.
- 3)
After first 5 minutes, drive vehicle between 12-32 MPH (21-58 KM/H), do not exceed 1/4 (25%) throttle as indicated by NGS scan tool. Maintain this speed until 18 minutes has elapsed from start of Mode 3.NOTE: If minimum speed of 12 MPH (21 KM/H) cannot be maintained, monitoring will temporarily stop and resume when speed has increased to desired range of 12-32 MPH (21-58 KM/H).
- 4) After 18-minute mark, drive with a steady throttle at 18-26 MPH (28-41 KM/H) for at least 20 seconds, then return to idle. At this point NGS scan tool should indicate O2 monitor and catalyst monitoring to be complete. See ON-BOARD SYSTEM READINESS (OSR) TEST MODE under ADDITIONAL FEATURES. Turn ignition off and disconnect test equipment.
