Test C: Abs Relay Failure

NOTE: This test is associated with the following DTCs: C1084, C1110, C1115 and C1440.
  1. Check Circuit No. 90 Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector C132 and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector C130 (located below brake master cylinder). Connect Breakout Box (007-00033) and Adapter (007-00115). Check voltage between test pins No. 25 and 30 at breakout box. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to step 3).
  2. Check Fuse Output Check voltage between ground and output side of ABS/HEATER BLOWER (60-amp) fuse cavity (Red/Yellow wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 5). If voltage is 10 volts or more, repair open Red/Yellow wire between fuse block and ABS control module.
  3. Check ABS Warning Light If connected, remove breakout box and adapter. Reconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector C132 and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector C130. Ensure all connections are clean and tight. Start engine and observe ABS warning light. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light stays on, replace ABS relay and go to next step. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light turns off, fault is intermittent. No further testing is required at this time. Clear all codes.
  4. Check ABS Control Module Start engine and observe ABS warning light. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light stays on, replace HCU. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light turns off, fault was corrected by replacing relay in step 3). Clear all codes.
  5. Check Fuse Input Check voltage between ground and input side of ABS/HEATER BLOWER (60-amp) fuse cavity (Red wire). If battery voltage is present, check condition of fuse. Replace if necessary. If fuse is okay, repair Red/Yellow wire between engine compartment fuse block and ABS control module. If battery voltage is not present, repair Red wire between battery and engine compartment fuse block. Repair or replace engine compartment fuse block if necessary. Reconnect all components. Clear all DTCs and retest system.
