Test G: Incorrect Signal For Commanded Braking Action
NOTE:
This test is associated with DTCs C1090 and C1237.
- Check Sensor Indicators & Wheel Speed Sensors Raise vehicle on hoist. Check front and rear toothed sensor indicators for missing teeth or loose/missing ring. Replace components as necessary. If toothed sensor indicators are okay, go to next step.
- Check Wheel Spin Effort With vehicle on hoist and transaxle in Neutral, spin each wheel by hand. If each wheel spins freely, go to next step. If any wheel does not spin freely, check disc/drum brake operation and repair as necessary.
- Check Brakelines/Hoses Inspect brakelines from each wheel to Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). Check for loose fittings, pinched brakelines or kinked hoses. Replace components as necessary. If brakelines/hoses are okay, go to next step.
- Check Wheel Speed Sensor Output Partially raise vehicle on hoist. Using New Generation Star (NGS) (007-00500) tool, select PID/DATA MONITOR and RECORD. Select ALL FOUR WHEELS and press TRIGGER. Rotate each wheel by hand and observe NGS display screen. If display indicates wheel speed for each wheel, go to next step. If display does not indicate wheel speed for each wheel, go to TEST F and check wheel speed sensor circuits.
- Check ABS Warning Indicator Bulb If connected, remove breakout box and adapters. Reconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector C132 and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector C130. Ensure all connections are clean and tight. Start engine and observe ABS warning light. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light stays on, replace ABS relay and go to next step. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light turns off, fault was intermittent. No further testing is required at this time. Clear all codes.
- Check ABS Control Module Start engine and observe ABS warning light. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light stays on, replace HCU. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light turns off, fault was corrected by replacing relay in step 5). Clear all codes.
