Test K: Abs Relay Inoperative
NOTE:
This test is associated with the following DTCs: C1081, C1082, C1083, C1085, C1111, C1112, C1113 and C1114.
- Check Connections Check ABS control module and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) connectors for clean and tight connections. If connectors are okay, go to next step. Clean or repair connectors as necessary. Clear codes and retest.
- Check For Corrosion Disconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector C132 and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector C130 (located below brake master cylinder). Inspect connectors for moisture and corrosion. Clean or repair connectors as necessary. Clear codes and retest system. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
- Check Grounds Check resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Black wire) at HCU 8-pin connector C130. Also, check resistance between ground and terminal No. 6 (Black/Yellow wire) at HCU 8-pin connector C130. If both readings are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If either reading is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black wire or Black/Yellow wire. Clear codes and retest system.
- Check ABS Warning Indicator Reconnect all components. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If ABS warning light is on after 5-10 seconds, go to next step. If ABS warning light is off after 5-10 seconds, repair made in previous step corrected problem. Clear codes.
- Check Relay-To-HCU Connections. Remove relay box from HCU. Check for moisture and corrosion. If moisture and corrosion are found within HCU assembly, replace HCU. If no moisture or corrosion is found. Clear codes and retest system. If code resets, replace HCU.
