Test G: The Anti-Lock Brake Module Does Not Respond

  1. Remove evac and fill cap. Inspect the pins and wire connections to the pins. Are the pins and wire connections okay? If yes, go to next step. If no, service the connector. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance from evac and fill connector terminal No. 8 (Light Blue/White wire) to DLC connector terminal No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire). Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  4 .
  3. Disconnect anti-lock brake module connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance of the Light Blue/White wire from anti-lock brake module terminal No. 28 to evac and fill connector terminal No. 8. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to step  6 . If no, service the Light Blue/White wire for an open. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  4. Disconnect in-line connector C1. Inspect connector terminal No. 6 (Town Car) or terminal No. 5 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis) and wire connections to the terminal. Is terminal and wire connection to the terminal okay? If yes, go to next step. If no, service the connector. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  5. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between harness connector C1 terminal No. 6 (Town Car) or terminal No. 5 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis) and terminal No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) of the DLC connector. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, service the Light Blue/White wire. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  6. Disconnect evac and fill cap. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between harness connector C1, terminal No. 6 (Town Car) or terminal No. 5 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis) and evac and fill connector terminal No. 8. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, service the Light Blue/White wire for open. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  7. Disconnect anti-lock brake module connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between harness connector C1, terminal No. 6 (Town Car) or terminal No. 5 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis) and anti-lock brake module connector terminal No. 28 (Light Blue/White wire). Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to step  9 . If no, go to next step.
  8. Inspect pins and wire connection to the pins on the anti-lock brake module harness connector. Are the pins and wire connections okay? If yes, go to next step. If no, service the connector. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  9. Inspect terminal No. 28 (Light Blue/White) and the housing. Is the terminal okay? If yes, replace anti-lock brake module. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK BRAKES article in CHASSIS SERVICE & REPAIR. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. If no, service the terminal and/or housing. Restore connections and run the Data Link Diagnostic Test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
