Drive Cycle Mode 3
- 1) Ensure Mode 1 has been successfully completed. Turn ignition off. Connect NGS scan tool to OBD-II DLC. Enter PID/DATA MONITOR menu selection. Access VSS PID.
- 2) Ensure all accessories are off. Start engine and start to time the drive cycle. Drive vehicle at any legal speed for 5 minutes, no special pattern is necessary. See Fig 1.
- 3)
After the first 5 minutes, drive vehicle between 16-35 MPH (26-56 KM/H), DO NOT
exceed 1/4 (25%) throttle as indicated by NGS scan tool. Maintain this speed until 18 minutes has elapsed from start of drive cycle.NOTE: If the minimum speed 16 MPH (26 KM/H) cannot be maintained the monitoring will temporarily stop and resume when speed have increased to the desired range 16-35 MPH (26-56 KM/H).
- 4) After 18 minute mark, drive with steady throttle at 22-29 MPH (35-46 KM/H) for at least 20 seconds then return to idle. At this point NGS scan tool should indicate O2 monitor and catalyst monitoring to be complete. See ON-BOARD SYSTEM READINESS (OSR) TEST MODE under ADDITIONAL SYSTEM FEATURES. Turn ignition off and disconnect test equipment.
