Testing Procedure

Two warning lights (ANTI-LOCK and BRAKE) alert vehicle operator of problems in braking system. Red BRAKE warning light monitors master cylinder fluid level and parking brake lever status. Amber ANTI-LOCK warning light alerts vehicle operator to problems in ABS system.

When trouble shooting ABS system, use test procedures in order they are presented. Using other than recommended procedure could result in wasted time and/or unnecessary replacement of parts.

Testing sequence should be as follows: PRETEST CHECKS, ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST using ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX table and PINPOINT TESTS A through K. If symptoms are present but codes cannot be retrieved, perform ABS QUICK CHECK and WARNING LIGHT SYMPTOM SEQUENCE CHECK. See Figure and Figure .
