Pinpoint Test "B"

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between DLC pins No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire). See Figure . If battery voltage is present, and steady, go to step 3). If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Measure voltage between DLC pins No. 7 and 16 (Gray/Red wire). If voltage is present, go to step 10). If no voltage (zero volts) is present, no faults are present at this time. Reconnect all components and verify symptom and fault code are present.
  3. Disconnect harness connector No. C1. See Figure and Figure . Turn ignition to RUN position. Measure voltage between DLC pins No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire). If battery voltage is present, and steady, reconnect all connectors and go to step 6). If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect ABS module connector. See Figure and Figure . Reconnect harness connector No. C1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between DLC pins No. 4 and 7. If battery voltage is present, and steady, repair Light Blue/White wire short to power between connector C1 and ABS module. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  5. Inspect wiring harness and connectors between connector C1 and ABS module. Repair wiring harness or connector(s) if necessary. If wiring harness and connector(s) are okay, replace ABS module.
  6. Disconnect Generic Electronic Module (GEM) wiring harness connector. See Figure and Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between DLC pins No. 4 and 7. If battery voltage is present, and steady, go to step 8). If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  7. Inspect wiring harness and connectors between GEM and DLC. Repair wiring harness or connector(s) if necessary. If wiring harness and connector(s) are okay, replace GEM.
  8. Disconnect Integrated Air Bag Monitor (IABM) wiring harness connector. See Figure and Figure . Turn ignition to RUN position. Measure voltage between DLC pins No. 4 and 7. If battery voltage is present, and steady, repair Light Blue/White wire short to power. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  9. Inspect wiring harness and connectors between IABM and DLC. Repair wiring harness or connector(s) if necessary. If wiring harness and connector(s) are okay, replace IABM.
  10. Disconnect harness connector No. C1. Turn ignition to RUN position. Measure voltage between DLC pins No. 4 and 7. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, reconnect all connectors and go to step 13). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  11. Disconnect ABS module connector. Reconnect harness connector No. C1. Measure resistance between DLC pins No. 4 and 7. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair Light Blue/White wire short to ground between connector C1 and ABS module. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  12. Inspect wiring harness and connectors between connector C1 and ABS module. Repair wiring harness or connector(s) if necessary. If wiring harness and connector(s) are okay, replace ABS module.
  13. Disconnect GEM wiring harness connector. Measure resistance between DLC pins No. 4 and 7. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step 15).
  14. Inspect wiring harness and connectors between GEM and DLC. Repair wiring harness or connector(s) if necessary. If wiring harness and connector(s) are okay, replace GEM.
  15. Disconnect Integrated Air Bag Monitor (IABM) wiring harness connector. Measure resistance between DLC pins No. 4 and 7. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair Light Blue/White wire short to ground.
  16. Inspect wiring harness and connectors between IABM and DLC. Repair wiring harness or connector(s) if necessary. If wiring harness and connector(s) are okay, replace IABM.
