Equipment Hookup
NOTE:
All procedures described in this article are using New Generation Star tester. A generic scan tool that is OBD-II compliant may be used as a substitute. See tester manufacturers instructions.
NOTE:
After performing equipment hookup, follow quick test procedure. See QUICK TEST .
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) can be retrieved using one of the following methods:
- Using New Generation Star (NGS) scan tool (007-00500).
- Using an aftermarket scan tool with OBD-II capabilities.
- 1) Turn ignition off. Insert proper EEPROM card into NGS tester. Attach OBD-II (16-pin) data cable to NGS tester.
- 2) Connect OBD-II data cable to OBD-II data link connector (located under left side of instrument panel). Plug power cable into cigarette lighter. Turn ignition ON. If serial communication is okay, go to QUICK TEST . If a serial communication error exists (no DTC displayed), see COMMUNICATION ERROR.
