Drive Cycle Mode 1
NOTE:
For aid in Mode 1 description, refer to illustration. See Fig 1.
- Ensure that there are no vacuum and/or intake air system leaks.
- Ensure that the idle speed and timing are properly adjusted.
- Ensure that all accessories are off, including A/C.
- Set the parking brake and block the drive wheels.
- Start the engine and bring it to normal operating temperature.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Restart the engine and let the engine idle for 2 minutes with the engine temperature above 178°F (81°C). Monitor the ECT PID if necessary.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Turn key on and monitor the MODE 1 PID to verify successful Mode 1 completion. If Mode 1 cannot be completed despite accurately following the procedure, go to CIRCUIT TEST QC - OBD-II MONITOR TESTING NOT COMPLETE to diagnose cause of Mode 1 failure.
