Heated Mirrors Inoperative

NOTE: Left side mirror heater power wire is a Purple/Black wire and right side mirror heater power wire is a Purple/Orange wire.
  1. Check rear window defogger operation. If rear window defogger does not function properly, see DEFOGGER - REAR WINDOW article. Repair as necessary. If rear window defogger is okay, check fuses and go to next step.

  2. Check For Power At Mirror

    Remove mirror glass from left and right mirrors. See SIDE MIRROR GLASS & MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Unplug harness connectors from left and right mirror glass. Turn ignition on and activate rear window defogger switch. Measure voltage between Black wire and Purple/Black wire (left mirror) or Purple/Orange wire (right mirror) at heated mirror connector. If battery voltage is present, replace mirror glass. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.

  3. Check Mirror Ground

    Turn ignition on and activate rear window defogger switch. Measure voltage between Purple/Black wire (left mirror) or Purple/Orange wire (right mirror) at heated mirror connector and chassis ground. If battery voltage is measured, repair Black (ground) wire between mirror connector and chassis ground. If battery voltage is not present, repair Purple/Black or Purple/Orange wire between MIRROR HEATER fuse and mirror glass connector.
