Diagnostic Aids

Aftermarket accessories such as a cellular phone, CB transceiver, alarm system or high-powered sound system that is not installed properly or malfunctioning may also cause Code C1137 to set.

1) Disconnect and inspect ABS control module 22-pin connector and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector (located below brake master cylinder). If connectors are okay, go to next step. Clean or repair connectors as necessary. Clear DTCs and retest system.

2) Measure resistance between fuel tank heat shield and chassis, across bonding strap. If resistance is less than one ohm, go to next step. If resistance is one ohm or more, repair fuel tank heat shield bonding strap and go to next step.

3) Measure resistance between fuel lines and chassis, at connectors near HCU. If resistance is less than one ohm, go to next step. If resistance is one ohm or more, repair fuel line bonding strap. Clear DTCs and retest system.

4) Reconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If ABS warning light is on after 10 seconds, replace HCU. If ABS warning light is off after 10 seconds, fault was corrected in previous steps. Clear DTCs and retest system.
