Visual Inspection

  1. Ensure master cylinder reservoir is full and parking brake is fully released. Inspect wheel speed sensors and brakelines for damage. Inspect wheel bearings for looseness or damage. Repair items as necessary.
  2. Ensure No. 3 (60-amp) fuse and No. 7 (30-amp) fuse in engine compartment fuse block are okay. Ensure No. 22 (7.5-amp) fuse and No. 30 (7.5-amp) fuse in instrument panel fuse block is okay. Check ABS warning indicator bulb. Check traction control indicator bulb. Check for damage to wiring harness. Check for loose or corroded connectors. Make necessary repairs.
  3. If problem remains after inspection, retrieve trouble codes. See RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES . If DTCs are retrieved, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION  table. Perform appropriate DTC test. If no DTCs are retrieved, proceed to SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS . If ABS control module cannot be accessed using NGS scan tester, go to TEST A .
