Abs Warning Light - System Check
- While observing ABS warning indicator, turn ignition On. If indicator illuminated for about 2 seconds or stays illuminated, go to step 3). If ABS indicator did not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition Off. Install Breakout Box (007-00033) with ABS Adapter Cable (007-000103). Connect a jumper wire between pins 1 and 17 of breakout box. Turn ignition On, for 10 seconds. Turn ignition Off. If ABS warning light is illuminated, replace ABS control module and go to next step. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, see INSTRUMENT PANELS article in the ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT section.
- Connect NGS scan tool. Turn ignition On. Check for any DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES . If DTCs exist, record all DTCs in order. Starting with first DTC recorded, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) DEFINITIONS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- If no DTCs are present, test drive vehicle to test ABS operation. If no problems were present during test drive, ABS system is okay. If problems still exist, check for an intermittent failures and perform vehicle brake inspection. Repair as necessary and repeat this test.
