Test E: Gem Does Not Respond To Scan Tool

- Check GEM Connector
Turn ignition off. Disconnect Generic Electronic Module connector C236. See Figure . GEM is located behind fuse panel. Inspect connector C236 terminals. If connector terminals are okay, go to next step. Repair any damaged terminals. Restore all electrical connections and repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair. - Check Circuit No. 70 Between DLC & GEM
Measure resistance of circuit No. 70 (Light Blue/White wire) between DLC terminal No. 7 and C236, terminal No. 10. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace GEM. Restore electrical connections and perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open Light Blue/White wire between DLC and GEM connector C236. Restore electrical connections and perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
