- Inspect DLC pins No. 2 and 10 for damage or bad wire connections. If pins and connections are okay, go to next step. If pins or connector is damaged, repair as necessary. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS .
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between DLC pins No. 2 and 10. See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 14).
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect PCM 104-pin connector C294 (located behind passenger's side kick panel). Measure resistance between DLC pin No. 2 and PCM connector C294 pin No. 16. See Figure and Figure. Measure resistance between DLC pin No. 10 and PCM connector C294 pin No. 15. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, verify NGS tester is functioning properly. If resistances are 5 ohms or more, repair circuit No. 914 (Tan/Orange wire) and circuit No. 915 (Pink/Light Blue wire) between DLC and PCM connector C294. Reconnect connectors. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS.
- Inspect DLC pin No. 2 for damage or bad wire connection. If pin and connection is okay, go to next step. If pin or wire connection is damaged, repair as necessary. Reconnect connectors. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM 104-pin connector C294. Measure resistance between DLC pin No. 2 and PCM connector C294 pin No. 16. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair circuit No. 914 (Tan/Orange wire) and circuit No. 915 (Pink/Light Blue wire) between DLC and PCM connector C294. Reconnect connectors. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS .
- Measure voltage between DLC pins No. 2 and 5. See Figure. If voltage is present, go to next step. If no voltage is present (zero volts), go to step 14).
- Measure voltage between DLC pins No. 2 and 16. If voltage is present, verify NGS tester is functioning properly. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS . If no voltage is present (zero volts), go to step 14).
- Inspect DLC pin No. 10 for damage or bad wire connection. If pin and wire connection is okay, go to next step. If pin or wire connection is damaged, repair as necessary. Reconnect connectors. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect PCM 104-pin connector C294. Measure resistance between DLC pin No. 10 and PCM connector C294 pin No. 15. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair circuit No. 914 (Tan/Orange wire) and circuit No. 915 (Pink/Light Blue wire) between DLC and PCM connector C294. Reconnect connectors. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS.
- Measure voltage between DLC pins No. 5 and 10. If voltage is present, go to next step. If no voltage is present (zero volts), go tostep 14).
- Measure voltage between DLC pins No. 10 and 16. If no voltage is present (zero volts), go to next step. If voltage is present, verify NGS tester is functioning properly. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS .
- Disconnect 12-pin harness connector C216 (Black connector located behind right side of instrument panel). Perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS . If DTC 0001 is present, go to next step. If DTC 0001 is not present, go to step 16).
- Reconnect harness connector C216. Disconnect PCM 104-pin connector C294. Perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS. If DTC 0001 is present, perform QUICK TEST in TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If DTC 0001 is not present, repair circuit No. 914 (Tan/Orange wire) and circuit No. 915 (Pink/Light Blue wire) between PCM and harness connector C216. Reconnect connectors. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS.
- Ensure all connectors are reconnected. Disconnect PATS module 16-pin connector C217 (located below driver's side of instrument panel, to left of steering column). Perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS . If DTC 0002 is present, replace PATS module.
