EVAP Check Valve

  1. Leave ignition off. Remove hoses from EVAP check valve (located under vehicle, near fuel tank). Connect a vacuum pump on one side of check valve and vacuum gauge to the other side of check valve. Using vacuum pump, apply 2 in. Hg to check valve and wait for 15 seconds. If vacuum is held for 15 seconds, go to next step. If vacuum is not held for 15 seconds, replace check valve.
  2. Leave ignition off. Reverse position of vacuum gauge and vacuum pump. Again, apply 2 in. Hg to check valve and wait for 15 seconds. If vacuum is not held for 15 seconds, replace check valve. If vacuum is held for 15 seconds, check valve is okay. If fault is still present, go to CIRCUIT TEST HV in TESTS W/CODES - 2.0L article.
