ISSUE

Beginning September, 1996 (Job #1, 1997) the CD4E transaxle will contain a revised main control assembly. This revised design includes a new intermediate/overdrive accumulator valve plug and eliminates the pull-in control valve, spring and retaining plate. SeeFig 1 .

ACTION

If replacement of the main control is required on a 1997 model year vehicle, service with the revised main control listed below.

NOTE: The new level main control is not to be used on previous model vehicles (1994-96). The new level main control is a coordinated change with the Intermediate/Overdrive Servo Assembly and the Powertrain Control MODULE (PCM).
