Description & Operation

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. Do not apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.

The optional remote keyless entry system uses a remote transmitter to lock or unlock both doors by pressing the LOCK or UNLOCK button. By pressing the PANIC button on the transmitter, a panic alarm system may also be activated. When the panic alarm is activated, the hazard lights flash and the horn sounds intermittently for 3 minutes. To deactivate the panic alarm system, press the panic button a second time. The system may also be deactivated by turning the ignition switch to the ON or START position.

The remote keyless entry system consists of a remote transmitter, Remote Entry Module (REM) located behind the right luggage compartment trim panel, and an antenna located within the rear light wiring harness.
