Test J: Air Bag Diagnostic Monitor Does Not Respond

- Deactivate air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. Disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor Black 12-pin connector C276 (located behind right side of instrument panel). Measure resistance between Black 12-pin air bag diagnostic monitor connector pin No. 12 (Light Blue/White wire) and DLC pin No. 7. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Light Blue/White wire. Reconnect connectors. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS.
- Inspect air bag diagnostic monitor Black 12-pin connector C276 pin No. 12 (Light Blue/White wire) and wire connection. If pin and wire connection is okay, go to next step. If pin and/or wire connection is damaged, repair as necessary. Reconnect connectors. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS.
- Inspect air bag diagnostic monitor pins. If pins are okay, replace air bag diagnostic monitor. If pin(s) are damaged, repair as necessary. Reconnect connectors. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS.
