Test F: Air Bag Diagnostic Monitor Does Not Respond To Scan Tool

  1. Check Diagnostic Monitor Connector

Turn ignition off. Disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor connector C277 (Gray 12-terminal connector). Air bag diagnostic monitor is located behind integrated control panel. Inspect connector C277 terminals. If connector terminals are okay, go to next step. Repair any damaged terminals. Restore all electrical connections and repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  to confirm repair.
  2. Check Circuit No. 70 Between DLC & Connector C214

Disconnect harness connector C214 (Black 38-terminal connector on left side of instrument panel). Measure resistance of circuit No. 70 (Light Blue/White wire) between DLC terminal No. 7 and harness connector C214. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If Resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open Light Blue/White wire between DLC and harness connector C214. Restore electrical connections and perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  to confirm repair.
  3. Check Connector C214

Inspect harness connector C214 terminals for damage. If connector terminals are okay, go to next step. Repair any damaged terminals. Restore all electrical connections and perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  to confirm repair.
  4. Check Circuit No. 70 Between Diagnostic Monitor & Connector C214

Measure resistance of circuit No. 70 between air bag diagnostic monitor harness connector and harness connector C214. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace air bag diagnostic monitor. Restore electrical connections and perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  to confirm repair. If Resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open Light Blue/White wire between harness connector C214 and diagnostic monitor harness connector. Restore electrical connections and perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS  to confirm repair.
