Test H: Pcm Does Not Respond To Scan Tool
- Check PCM Connector
Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. PCM is located in left/rear of engine compartment, on cowl. Inspect PCM harness connector terminals. If terminals are okay, go to next step. Repair any damaged terminals. Restore all electrical connections and repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS
to confirm repair.
- Check Circuits No. 914 & 915
Turn ignition off. Disconnect harness connector C263 (C221 on 3.0L 2V), located in left side of instrument panel behind headlight switch. See Figure
and Figure
. Measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between DLC terminal No. 2 and harness connector C263, terminal No. 53 (C221, terminal No. 28 on 3.0L 2V). Measure resistance of Pink/Light Blue wire between DLC terminal No. 10 and harness connector C263, terminal No. 53 (C221, terminal No. 28 on 3.0L 2V). If both resistance measurements are 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If either resistance measurement is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Tan/Orange or Pink/Light Blue wire. Restore all electrical connections and repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS
to confirm repair.
- Check Harness Connector
Inspect harness connector C263 (C221 on 3.0L 2V) terminals. If harness connector terminals are okay, go to next step. Repair any damaged terminals. Restore all electrical connections and repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS
to confirm repair.
- Check Circuits No. 914 & 915
Turn ignition off. Disconnect harness connector C130 (Black 42-terminal connector located above transaxle) and harness connector C263 (C221 on 3.0L 2V), located in left side of instrument panel behind headlight switch. See Figure
and Figure
. Measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between harness connector C130, terminal No. 5 and harness connector C263, terminal No. If either resistance measurement is greater than 5 ohms, repair open Tan/Orange or Pink/Light Blue wire. Restore all electrical connections and repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS
to confirm repair.
- Check Circuits No. 914 & 915 Between PCM & C130
Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM. Measure resistance of circuit No. 914 (Tan/Orange wire) between harness connector C130 terminal No. 5 and PCM harness connector No. 16. Measure resistance of circuit No. 915 (Pink/Light Blue wire) between harness connector C130 terminal No. 6 and PCM harness connector No. 15. If both resistance measurements are greater than 5 ohms, refer to TESTS W/CODES
article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If either resistance measurement is less than 5 ohms, repair open Tan/Orange or Pink/Light Blue wire between harness connector C130 and PCM harness connector. Restore all electrical connections and repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS
to confirm repair.
