Pinpoint Test D - Illuminated Entry Inoperative From Remote Transmitter
- Press UNLOCK button on remote transmitter. Wait 20 seconds and press LOCK button. If interior lights come on, system is operating properly. If no interior lights come on, go to next step. If either front door does not lock or unlock when remote transmitter is used, go to PINPOINT TEST C .
- Measure voltage between Generic Electronic Module (GEM) connector C248, terminal No. 8 (Brown/Light Green wire) and ground. See Figure . Continue measuring voltage and press UNLOCK button on remote transmitter. If voltage is less than 1.3 volts as UNLOCK button is pressed, go to next step. If voltage is 1.3 volts or greater as UNLOCK button is pressed, repeat step 2). If voltage is still 1.3 volts or greater, replace Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module. Retest system.
- Keep same setup as in step 2). Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500) to Data Link Connector (DLC). Select DIGITAL MEASUREMENT. PULSE WIDTH METER and choose LEVEL setting LOW. Press UNLOCK button on remote transmitter. If the pulse width was 190-210 mS, go to next step. If the pulse width was not 190-210 mS, replace RAP module and retest system.
- Disconnect RAP module connector and GEM connector C248. Measure resistance in circuit No. 1013 (Brown/Light Green wire) between RAP module connector C254 and GEM connector C248. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in circuit No. 1013 (Brown/Light Green wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, see wiring diagram in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
