Pinpoint Test G - Trunk Does Not Unlock

  1. Press remote keyless entry transmitter TRUNK button. If trunk lock releases, go to step 9). If trunk lock does not release, go to next step.
  2. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500) to Data Link Connector (DLC). Access RAP FUNCTION TESTS, TRANSMITTER TIC/DATA. Press remote keyless entry transmitter TRUNK button. If LAST DATA RECEIVED displays TRUNK, go to next step. If LAST DATA RECEIVED does not display TRUNK, go to PINPOINT TEST C  .
  3. Disconnect trunk lid release relay connector. Measure voltage at connector terminal No. 85. See Fig 1 . If 10 volts or more exist, go to next step. If less than 10 volts exist, go to step 5).

  4. Measure voltage at trunk lid release relay connector terminal No. 30 (Purple/Yellow wire). See Fig 1 . If 10 volts or more exist, go to next step. If less than 10 volts exist, repair open Purple/Yellow wire and retest system.
  5. Remove fuse No. 26 (15-amp) from fuse junction panel. Measure resistance between output side of fuse No. 26 and trunk lid release relay connector terminal No. 30 (Purple/Yellow wire). See Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Purple/Yellow wire and retest system.
  6. Measure voltage at supply side of fuse No. 26. If 10 volts or more exist, check Purple/Yellow wire for short to ground between fuse No. 26 and trunk lid release relay. Repair wire as necessary and retest system. If less than 10 volts exist, repair power supply circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAM  .
  7. Measure resistance of Light Green/Yellow wire between trunk lid release relay connector terminal No. 87 and trunk lock release solenoid. See Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Light Green/Yellow wire and retest system.
  8. Disconnect Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module connector C254. Measure resistance in Pink/Orange wire between RAP connector C254, terminal No. 7 and trunk lid release relay connector terminal No. 85. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 11). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Pink/Orange wire and retest system.
  9. Disconnect trunk lid release switch connector located on left side of instrument panel. Measure resistance between output side of fuse No. 26 (Purple/Yellow wire) and Pink/Orange wire at trunk lid release switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Purple/Yellow and/or Pink/Orange wire. Retest system.
  10. Measure resistance between ground and Gray/Red wire at trunk lid release switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace trunk lid release switch and retest system. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, check for open in Gray/Red wire and/or Black wire (between switch and ground). Repair wiring as necessary and retest system.
  11. Ensure trunk lid release relay connector is connected to relay. Measure voltage at RAP module connector C254, terminal No. 7 (Pink/Orange wire). See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace trunk lid release relay and retest system.
  12. Connect a jumper wire between Purple/Yellow and Gray/Red wires at trunk lid release switch connector. Measure voltage at Yellow/Light Green wire at trunk lid ajar switch/release solenoid. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace trunk lid release relay and retest system.
  13. Measure resistance between ground and Black wire at trunk lid ajar switch/release solenoid connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black wire and retest system.
  14. Ensure trunk lid release relay connector is connected to relay. Ensure RAP module is connected. Measure voltage between Black and Yellow/Light Green wires at trunk lid ajar switch/release solenoid connector while pressing TRUNK button on remote keyless entry transmitter. If battery voltage exists, replace trunk lid release relay and retest system. If battery voltage does not exist, replace RAP module and retest system.
