System Testing: Self-Diagnostics
NOTE:
A New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500) is required for testing the remote keyless entry system.

Retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) before beginning any testing. Connect NGS tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located at instrument panel, below steering column. Following manufacturer's instructions, retrieve any existing code(s) from Generic Electronic Module (GEM). Perform appropriate DTC test. If symptoms remain or if no DTCs exist, see REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM SYMPTOM DIRECTORY . If symptoms do not exactly match descriptions in directory, go to PINPOINT TEST "A".
NGS tester must be used to clear DTC(s). Follow manufacturer's instructions to clear individual DTC or all DTCs stored in GEM.
