Pinpoint Test C - Locks Inoperative From Remote Transmitter

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500) to Data Link Connector (DLC). Perform On-Demand Self-Test to verify Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module has power See ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. While standing within 10 yards/meters of vehicle, press each button on remote keyless entry transmitter. If there is an appropriate response for each button, system is operating properly. If there is not an appropriate response for any button, go to next step.
  2. Stand next to or sit inside vehicle. Press each button of remote keyless entry transmitter No. 1. If system fails to respond to any button press, go to next step. If system responds to each button press, go to step 6).
  3. If another transmitter is available, repeat step 2) using transmitter No. 2. If the system fails to respond to any button press, go to next step. If the system responds to each button press, go to step 6).
  4. Ensure antenna is properly connected to Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module. Repeat step 1). If system operates properly, test is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect antenna from RAP module. Measure resistance between antenna signal pin and opposite end of antenna coaxial cable center conductor. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, antenna is good. Go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, replace antenna and repeat step 1).
NOTE: When using New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500), TRANSMITTER TIC/DATA screen will indicate Transmitter Identification Codes (TIC). These eight-digit letter/number codes (TIC 1 and TIC 2) are stored codes for transmitters No. 1 and 2.
  6. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500). Enter RAP, FUNCTION TESTS, TRANSMITTER TIC/DATA. Record any Transmitter Identification Codes (TICs) stored in RAP module. If at least 2 TICs are displayed TIC 1 and TIC 2, go to next step. If less than 2 TICs are stored, program all transmitters (at least 2) to be used with system. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING  . Retest system.
  7. Turn ignition switch. IMMEDIATELY (within 3-4 seconds) press UNLOCK button on remote keyless entry transmitter No. 1. NGS tester will display TIC and data for which transmitter button has been pressed. If 8-digit TIC is displayed under LAST TIC RECEIVED and UNLOCK is displayed under LAST DATA RECEIVED, transmitter No. 1 and RAP module are good. Go to step 10. If display is not as described, go to next step.
  8. Repeat steps 6) and 7) for transmitter No. 2. If 8-digit TIC is displayed under LAST TIC RECEIVED and UNLOCK is displayed under LAST DATA RECEIVED, go to next step. If display is not as described, go to step 11).
  9. Switch batteries between remote keyless entry transmitters No. 1 and 2. Repeat steps 6) and 7) for transmitter No. 1. If 8-digit TIC is displayed under LAST TIC RECEIVED and UNLOCK is displayed under LAST DATA RECEIVED, install new batteries in transmitter No. 1. Reinstall original batteries in transmitter No. 2. Retest system. If display is not as described, replace faulty transmitter.
  10. Observe TIC/DATA. If TIC under LAST TIC RECEIVED matches TIC 1 or TIC 2, go to next step. If TIC under LAST TIC RECEIVED does not match TIC 1 or TIC 2, program all transmitters (at least 2) to be used with system. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING  . Retest system.
  11. Observe TIC/DATA. Press each button of remote keyless entry transmitter. Repeat procedure for all transmitters being used. If all buttons create the proper LAST DATA RECEIVED display on NGS tester, system is operating properly. If all buttons do not create the proper LAST DATA RECEIVED display on NGS tester, program all transmitters (at least 2) to be used with system. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING  . Retest system.
