Test D - Power Window Switch Does Not Illuminate

  1. To check interior lighting operation, turn headlight switch to PARK position. If instrument panel illuminates, go to next step. If panel does not illuminate, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL - ELECTRONIC article, repair as necessary and retest system.
  2. To check illumination feed to window switch, disconnect suspect window switch connector. Turn headlight switch to PARK position. Measure voltage from ground to master switch connector, pin No. 1 (Yellow/Black wire) or right window switch connector, pin No. 7 (Yellow/Black wire). If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in circuit No. 137 (Yellow/Black wire) and retest system. See Figure or Figure .
  3. To check ground circuit, measure resistance from ground to suspect window control switch, pins No. 2 (Black wire) and No. 4 (Black wire) of master switch or pin No. 6 (Black wire) of right door switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace master control switch and retest system. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in circuit No. 57 (Black wire) and retest system.
