Contact Assembly (CLOCKSPRING): Installation
- Center new contact assembly before installation. See Figure
and Figure
. Hold contact in hand and rotate inner rotor against outer rotor counterclockwise until it stops. Rotate inner rotor clockwise about 2 3/4 turns until alignment marks are aligned and locking tab is in slot.
- Install new contact assembly. Ensure retaining tangs lock into position. Remove locking tab. If reinstalling original contact, remove tape after installing. Connect contact assembly wire connector to column harness. Install upper and lower shrouds.
- Install steering wheel. Connect contact assembly wire connector to terminal on air bag module. Install air bag module. Connect battery cables. Check AIR BAG light for system faults.
