Test A: Anti-Lock Brake System (Abs) Module Does Not Respond To NGS Tester

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS module connector located in left rear corner of engine compartment. Inspect connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  2. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 11 (White/Violet wire) at ABS module connector. See Fig 1. If zero volts is indicated, go to next step. If any voltage is indicated, repair short to power in White/Violet wire between DLC and ABS module. Retest system for normal operation.
  3. Measure resistance of White/Violet wire between terminal No. 11 at ABS module connector and terminal No. 7 at Data Link Connector (DLC). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in White/Violet wire between ABS module connector and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
  4. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 11 (White/Violet wire) at ABS module connector. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more, replace ABS module. Retest system for normal operation. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Violet wire. Retest system for normal operation.
