Test D: No Communication With Rap Module
- Check Fuses - Turn ignition off. Check condition of instrument panel fuse block ROOM fuse (10-amp). On ZX2 coupe, check condition of instrument panel fuse block RADIO fuse (5-amp). On sedan and wagon, check condition of instrument panel fuse block MIRROR fuse (5-amp). On all models, if fuses are okay, reinstall fuses and go to step 4). If ROOM fuse is not okay, go to next step. On ZX2 coupe, if RADIO fuse is not okay, go to step 3). On sedan and wagon, if MIRROR fuse is not okay, go to step 3).
- Check Blue/Red Wire For Short To Ground - Disconnect RAP module Gray, 22-pin connector C404 (located in luggage compartment/trunk, behind right trim panel on ZX2 coupe and sedan, or located behind left rear quarter trim panel on wagon). Replace instrument panel fuse block ROOM fuse (10-amp). Check condition of replaced ROOM fuse. If fuse is okay, replace RAP module and retest system operation. If fuse is not okay, repair short to ground in Blue/Red wire between instrument panel fuse block ROOM fuse and RAP module. Retest system operation.
- Check Blue/Black Wire For Short To Ground - Disconnect RAP module Gray, 26-pin connector C405 (located in luggage compartment/trunk, behind right trim panel on ZX2 coupe and sedan, or located behind left rear quarter trim panel on wagon). On ZX2 coupe, replace instrument panel fuse block RADIO fuse (5-amp). On sedan and wagon, replace instrument panel fuse block MIRROR fuse (5-amp). Check condition of replaced fuses. If fuses are okay, replace RAP module and retest system operation. If fuses are not okay, repair short to ground in Blue/Black wire between instrument panel fuse block and RAP module. Retest system operation.
- Check RAP Module Ground Circuit For Open - Disconnect RAP module Gray, 22-pin connector C404 (located in luggage compartment/trunk, behind right trim panel on ZX2 coupe and sedan, or located behind left rear quarter trim panel on wagon). On 4-door remote system, check resistance between ground and RAP module 22-pin connector C404 terminal No. 14 (Black wire). See Figure . On driver door only remote system, check resistance between ground and RAP module 26-pin con). See Figure . On driver door only remote system, check resistance between ground and RAP module 26-pin connector C405 terminal No. 24 (Black wire). See Figure . On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire between RAP module and ground. Retest system operation.
- Check Blue/Red Wire For Voltage - Using a voltmeter, check voltage between ground and RAP module 22-pin connector C404, terminal No. 12 (Blue/Red wire). See Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Blue/Red wire between instrument panel fuse block and RAP module. Retest system operation.
- Check Blue/Black Wire For Voltage - Disconnect RAP module Gray, 26-pin connector C405 (located in luggage compartment/trunk, behind right trim panel on ZX2 coupe and sedan, or located behind left rear quarter trim panel on wagon). Using a voltmeter, check voltage between ground and RAP module 26-pin connector C405, terminal No. 25 (Blue/Black wire). See Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article to continue diagnosis. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Blue/Black wire between instrument panel fuse block and RAP module. Retest system operation.
