Starter Cranks Slowly
- Check Battery Connections
Inspect battery cables and connections. Repair connections or replace cables as necessary. Check system operation. If battery cables and connections are okay, go to next step.
- Check Battery
Test battery state of charge and capacity. Replace battery if necessary. If battery is okay, go to next step.
- Check Connections At Starter
Inspect starter motor cable connections. Clean or repair if necessary. Ensure starter motor is securely mounted. Tighten mounting bolts if necessary. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
. If slow crank condition remains, go to next step.
- Check Starter Current Draw
Perform STARTER CURRENT DRAW TEST. If current draw is within specification, check engine for mechanical concerns. If current draw is excessive, replace starter motor. Restore electrical connections and check system operation.
