Test A: Power Windows Completely Inoperative
- Check Power Supply & Ground
- Remove
power window master switch. Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
Using a voltmeter, check voltage between ground and terminal No. 10
(terminal No. 15 on convertible) at master switch connector. See
Fig 1
or
Fig 2
. If battery voltage
is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present on
sedan, go to step 3). If battery voltage is not present on
convertible, go to step 4).
- Check Switch Ground
- Using an
ohmmeter, check resistance between terminal No. 12 (terminal No. 15 on
convertible) at master switch connector and ground. If resistance is
less than 5 ohms, replace master switch and retest system operation.
If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire between
master switch and ground. Retest system operation.
- Supply Circuit Check (Sedan)
- Remove
circuit breaker No. 14 (20-amp) from instrument panel fuse block.
Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between output side of circuit
breaker No. 14 and master switch connector terminal No. 10, and also
between output side of circuit breaker No. 14 and master switch
connector terminal No. 11. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step
5). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue/Black
or Pink wire. Retest system operation.
- Supply Circuit Check (Convertibles)
-
Remove circuit breaker No. 14 (20-amp) from instrument panel fuse
block. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between output side of
circuit breaker No. 14 and master switch connector terminal No. 15. If
resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more
than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue/Black wire. Retest system
operation.
- Circuit Breaker Check
- Turn ignition
switch to RUN position. Using a voltmeter, check voltage at input side
of circuit breaker No. 14. If battery voltage is present, replace
circuit breaker No. 14 and retest system operation. If battery voltage
is not present, replace instrument panel fuse block and retest system
operation.
